About Me

Welcome to my blog! I am a young graduate student and although I'm diligently pursuing a PhD in history, I refuse to become boring or stuffy! I went to college in D.C., where I met my wonderful bf, and then in August, I moved to California to pursue my PhD. As a result, lots of my older posts, especially my recipes, feature my bf. He will still occasionally make an appearance, but for the most part, I have to entertain myself. I am a firm believer that people with only one interest are way less fun to be around. So, I am chronicling my projects, developments and hilarious missteps in all of my areas of interest.

A few things about me. I hate raw chicken, cooked mushrooms, and shell fish. I love all kinds of pasta, fruit, dessert and bread. I love all home projects, DIY, animals, cooking and reading. Any questions? Email me at youngscholarslife@gmail.com.

Why in a blog you ask? Well, I have several hopes for my little pet project:

1) It's a great way to document my progress in home decorating, reading and cooking. It helps me remember which recipes and books I loved and which I'd rather avoid in the future.

2) This blog is a great way for me to share my finds with my family, friends, and the online community. Rather than trying to send pictures, recipe links, book reviews, etc. etc. etc. to people I know, I can just conveniently send my blog link! Also, and perhaps just as importantly, as I navigate the challenges of a long distance relationship, it helps me keep my wonderful boyfriend in the loop without rambling for hours about tiny, mundane details (because I like to share every annoying, non-important thing).

3) I get to meet awesome (new or old) readers like you! What an amazing way to meet people and exchange ideas, inspiration, suggestions and support! Thank you for making my project so worth while!
